Registration Information

Admission to Sonoma Charter School is open to any resident of California without regard to ethnicity, national origin, gender, or disability. SCS's goal is to recruit a diverse student population, reflective of the Sonoma Valley and surrounding areas, from families that are committed to the school's instructional and operational philosophy.

The following are the steps taken in admitting a child as a student to SCS:

  1. Families submit a single application form including the ages and number of eligible children in the family.
  2. Each spring during Kindergarten recruitment an independent CPA firm conducts a lottery off site. All applications are assigned a lottery number and all slots are filled according to lottery results. If the number of applications exceeds the number of available slots, the lottery results establish a waiting list determining the order of subsequent admissions during the school year as new slots open up. The school's capacity is 231 students.
  3. Applications are accepted at any time and should be submitted to the school office.

Open slots will be filled according to the following guidelines:

  • Admissions are not to exceed a maximum of eighty students in each cluster
  • Admissions are not to exceed a maximum of thirty students per age level
